"A room of her own"
Over nine million refugees have fled Ukraine, about two-thirds of them to Poland, most of them women, victims of war atrocities, and potential victims of further exploitation and abuse.
Many women have been traumatized and exploited during these experiences and are at increased risk of trafficking and exploitation.
A Room of Her own
operates healing and recovery centers that give each refugee and her children, “a space of her own“, an independent space to stabilize, organize, gather strength and grow.
The centers are located in Rzeszów , Eastern Poland, not far from the Ukrainian border.
Each family has a “room of their own”, in homes that have been beautifully designed for their accomodation.
The women and their children are hosted for several months and undergo a comprehensive rehabilitation and recovery process. “A Room of her own” helps them integrate into independent living in t Poland and other countries that receive refugees.
“A room of her own” is a unique model for aid, support and rehabilitation for refugee women, based on Israeli entrepreneurship, Israeli knowledge, giving, love and female solidarity.
Our volunteers – Women Solidarity
“A room of her own” is solely run by volunteers from Israel and the Jewish diaspora. The refugees and their children meet women who truly care for them, volunteers who see them, listen to them and respect them.
The volunteers, skilled professional women, handle the complex and multi-factor process, including identifying women in need at the border crossings and offering emotional assistance in dealing with their mental distress. They aid in finding suitable employment, caring for and assisting the children in instructional and complementary after-school educational activities.
